Hi there.
I’m Peter Worth, a professional DJ in Key West, Fla. Hear me roar!
I was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1981, and came to America in 1999 with nothing but a box of LPs and $600 half of which I spent taking a cab ride to Key West. Hey, it seemed like a sensible thing to do at the time.
First off, I landed a job at a fantastic club called WAX, where I ended up working for four years. I also started to organize my own parties, usually with my partner in crime Jeffrey Dunaway.
Calling ourselves Wodu Productions, Jeff and I held some ferocious events at such locations as a 120-plus capacity boat, oceanfront mansions, Irish pubs, otherworldly art installations, and even Ernest Hemingway’s house!
As a DJ in a tourist town I quickly learned how to balance the more accessible side of house music with the twisted material that I love. My resulting style is well-paced, with many hands-in-the-air moments. I place huge emphasis on well-programmed mixes, as I feel this is the key to shaping a solid, well-rounded night of smooth lounge house and ballistic, marching techno.
To make it all happen, I use vinyl, CDs, effects units, and the Traktor DJ Studio. Lately I’ve turned to the Traktor for all my DJing and recording needs. Nowadays, when I play out, I do so entirely from my laptop, a 15” Apple Powerbook G4, my idea of a true “plug and play” setup. I still purchase essential vinyl and own around 2000 vinyl records.
In August of 2005 I set up www.djpeterworth to offer everyone the chance to get to know me better and download my mixes for free. You can also check out a full series of my demos here, featuring just about every music style I play.
Hope to see you out and around in the Southernmost City!
